Key Responsibilities
Construction Accountant Duties
- Review project bids and estimates to ensure accurate pricing and project scheduling.
- Prepare and reconcile daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and statements.
- Prepare and file tax reports in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Control inventory, purchasing, and disposal of supplies.
- Maintain all financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and manage billings effectively.
Construction Accountant Responsibilities
- Maintain and track all costs related to construction projects.
- Review contractors’ bills for accuracy and completeness; approve payment requests.
- Process invoices, requisitions, and purchase orders in a timely manner.
- Review, approve, and process payroll, expense reports, and time cards.
- Research and resolve invoice and billing disputes with contractors.
- Audit all accounts against contractual terms, budgets, and timelines.
- Review and approve vendor invoices and subcontractor bills.
- Maintain organized files for general ledger, assets, and mills.
- Keep files on contracts, warranties, and insurance policies updated.
- Prepare financial reports as necessary for management review.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.
- Experience: 3+ years of accounting experience in construction or real estate development.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including cost controls, job costing, and profit and loss accounting.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to understand complex billing and job costing concepts.
- Work Environment: Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating urgency and ownership of tasks, while managing deadlines effectively.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
