As a Document Control Technician, you will play a vital role in managing and overseeing project documentation for large-scale projects, ensuring proper procedures are followed in document storage, retrieval, and circulation.

Responsibilities

Document Management & Control

  • Maintain a centralized document control system for project-related documents, including client, vendor, subcontractor, and third-party documentation.
  • Establish and implement efficient document control registers and filing procedures, ensuring all documentation is stored, distributed, and tracked appropriately.
  • Expedite review and approval processes for designs, procedures, certifications, and other project-related documents.
  • Plan, supervise, and record document flow to and from all necessary stakeholders, ensuring timely issuance of transmittals and maintaining up-to-date records.

Document Coordination & Compliance

  • Ensure the removal of obsolete documents from circulation and manage the proper storage and archiving of project documentation.
  • Coordinate with the project team for the preparation and handover of documentation to the operations team, ensuring compliance with all quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other document controllers across different offices to maintain consistency in document management across the project.
  • Implement and monitor Quality Assurance procedures in line with Worley’s Quality Assurance System.

Safety & Team Collaboration

  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff in document control processes and provide hands-on training to local Kuwaiti personnel.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for resolving issues related to documentation management.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of post-qualification work experience in Document Control within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or similar industries, preferably in large-scale or PMC projects.
  • Prior experience working in the GCC region (Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, UAE) is essential.
  • Experience with pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with advanced document management systems, data systems, and engineering software.
  • Strong knowledge of contractual terms and commercial contract law related to project documentation.
  • Familiarity with process engineering requirements across all phases of project life cycles, from FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) to commissioning.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex documentation processes.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of mentoring and guiding junior staff.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
