Job Introduction
The American University of the Middle East (AUM) is a leading private university established in 2005, known for its commitment to providing an interactive learning environment. We are seeking a qualified Laboratory Instructor for the Department of Industrial Engineering, starting in the Fall Semester of 2024.
Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Lab Preparation: Develop lab manuals and syllabi, prepare experiments, and ensure all lab materials are ready for sessions.
- Instruction: Deliver engaging laboratory sessions, including pre-laboratory presentations, and supervise students during labs.
- Assessment: Assess student performance through various tools such as quizzes, presentations, lab reports, and exams.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance, and prepare laboratory course portfolios at the end of each semester.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe working environment in the labs.
- Support: Assist faculty with research, contribute to departmental activities, and support professional development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field from an internationally accredited university.
- Skills: Strong oral and written English communication skills; ability to thrive in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
- Experience: Teaching experience and research interests in areas such as:
- Computing in Industrial Engineering
- Ergonomics
- Operations Research
- Facility Design
- Digital Human Modelling with JACK Software
- Production and Supply Chain Operations
- Simulation Modelling with Arena
