Responsibilities

As a Shipping/Receiving Clerk, your key duties will include:

  • Performing routine clerical tasks related to shipping and receiving of goods and cargo, ensuring adherence to established guidelines.
  • Utilizing Army Automated Information Systems (AIS) to collect, analyze, and report transportation data.
  • Processing and distributing shipping/receiving requests and ensuring accurate entry into the appropriate database.
  • Ensuring RF Tags are processed for inbound and outbound cargo and maintaining in-transit visibility throughout the shipment process.
  • Establishing and maintaining shipping documents, such as Material Release Orders (MROs) and Transportation Control and Movement Documents (TCMDs).
  • Ensuring that all items shipped or received are accurately documented and resolving any errors or discrepancies.
  • Supporting other duties as required, including the handling of Material Handling Equipment (MHE).

Qualifications

Education/Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Additional education can be substituted by relevant experience.
  • Certification and/or licensing to operate Forklifts (10k and below) required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in shipping/receiving or logistics.
  • Experience with computer-based shipping/receiving systems and tracking tools.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret shipping reports and documents.
  • Strong understanding of MHE equipment operations and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-national team, including effective collaboration with supervisors, peers, and ranking military personnel.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to ensure accurate workflow.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Basic knowledge of Army AIS and relevant military transportation protocols is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily conducted in a shop environment, with some tasks carried out in outdoor settings.
  • Potential exposure to extreme weather conditions in the region, including high temperatures during the summer and low temperatures in the winter.
  • Employees will be required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per OSHA safety regulations. PPE includes protective gear for the head, torso, feet, vision, and hearing as necessary.
  • Employees must be aware of and adhere to safety regulations when working around MHE and heavy machinery. The job involves working in warehouse environments where items may be stored overhead, requiring caution.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 35-45 pounds on a regular basis.
  • The role involves heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and sitting, as well as climbing and stooping in areas with potential exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
  • Daily work may require use of mobile ladders to retrieve items stored at height.
  • Regular use of material handling equipment (MHE) in and around the warehouse and storage yard.
