Radar System Engineer

The Radar Resident Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for planning, performing, and reporting all maintenance activities related to radar systems, ensuring safe and efficient operations. This position requires expertise in radar systems, including installation, disassembly, and operation, as well as knowledge of related systems like the Low-Level Windshear Alert System (LLWAS) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B). Experience with weather Doppler radar is an advantage. The role also involves international travel for training and operational needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist DGCA staff in performing urgent or routine maintenance on radar hardware or software.
  • Prepare and implement maintenance schedules for radar systems.
  • Provide technical and operational support for the DWR (Doppler Weather Radar) system’s day-to-day maintenance.
  • Deliver on-the-job training to DGCA staff as needed.
  • Install software updates/upgrades and train DGCA personnel on any new functionalities.
  • Provide monthly performance reports on system health, maintenance support, and training activities.
  • Ensure Level 2 maintenance, including the identification and replacement of faulty radar units, subunits, or assemblies.
  • Maintain subassemblies like radar transmitters, receivers, and antennas.
  • Independently perform measurements, repairs, and calibrations on complex analogue and digital devices.
  • Collaborate with customers to ensure technical issues are understood and resolved efficiently, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar qualification in communications technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in radar engineering and maintenance.
  • Expertise in radar systems like METEOR S-Band, X-Band, C-Band Radars and METEOR 600/700 Weather Radar Systems.
  • Preferred experience with Selex Radar Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of analogue and digital circuit technology, including high-frequency technology.
  • Proficiency with instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and high-frequency power meters.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a client-facing mindset.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Working Hours

  • Sunday to Thursday from 07:00 to 15:00.

Holidays

  • 30 working days per year, plus public holidays as announced by the Kuwait Government.
