Americana Foods is looking for an experienced QHSE Section Head to lead and oversee our Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) operations. In this role, you will be responsible for directing food safety, quality control, and HSE programs at our food production facilities, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance with local, international, and industry-specific regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Implementation:
    • Implement and enforce QHSE policies and procedures to maintain compliance with local, governmental, and international food safety and safety standards.
    • Identify potential discrepancies between product deliverables and the desired product standards.
  • Production Monitoring:
    • Review and support daily, weekly, and monthly quality parameters within the production process, reporting any concerns or deviations to the Quality Manager.
    • Conduct thorough analyses of production data to identify areas for improvement and optimization of both product quality and volume.
  • Laboratory Supervision:
    • Supervise laboratory operations, ensuring strict adherence to established procedures and quality standards.
    • Ensure lab equipment calibration and certification are maintained in compliance with the adopted quality systems.
    • Guarantee that laboratory practices meet all environmental and safety regulations, identifying and reporting any issues to ensure compliance with both local legislation and company policies.
  • Process and Quality Control:
    • Oversee the performance and compliance of the Process and Quality Control Management Systems, ensuring reliability while minimizing production costs.
  • Health & Safety Management:
    • Proactively manage health and safety procedures, working toward the company goal of achieving ‘0 Lost Time Injuries’ and continuously improving health and safety performance.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis, scientific research, and optimization trials, collaborating with teams in production, procurement, and R&D.
    • Implement new procedures to improve product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Compliance Management:
    • Ensure compliance with all food safety and HSE regulations by implementing company guidelines, conducting staff training, and regularly monitoring compliance.
    • Lead or participate in audits and inspections to ensure adherence to all regulatory standards.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead a team of quality control professionals, ensuring they have the necessary resources, training, and support to perform their duties effectively.
    • Develop and deliver training programs for staff on quality and safety standards.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Investigate and resolve quality issues and customer complaints, ensuring effective solutions are implemented.
    • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all quality control and assurance activities.
  • Collaboration and Reporting:
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as procurement, production, and R&D to support the development of high-quality products.
    • Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, HSE, or a similar leadership role in the food production or manufacturing industry.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, quality control standards, and HSE management.
    • Strong understanding of safety regulations, quality assurance processes, and environmental safety requirements.
    • Proficiency in data analysis, statistical studies, and report preparation for continuous improvement.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious work culture.
    • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications in food safety, HSE, or quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP) are highly desirable.
