We are seeking a Manager Safety and Standards to support our operations in the GCC region. This role is key to ensuring that NATS complies with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and supports the Head of Safety, Quality, and Environment in maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance. Key Responsibilities
As the Manager of Safety and Standards, you will be responsible for:
- Safety Management System (SMS) Implementation: Oversee the effective deployment of SMS processes to ensure safe operational practices.
- Risk Management: Develop and manage risk mitigation strategies by identifying potential hazards, ensuring all identified risks are appropriately managed.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive the ongoing improvement of safety procedures, ensuring they remain efficient, effective, and compliant with applicable regulations.
- Safety Performance Measurement: Establish safety performance indicators and monitor SMS effectiveness through Safety Assurance Processes.
- Hazard Log and Risk Registers: Maintain and update safety hazard logs and risk registers to track ongoing safety concerns.
- Change Management: Implement risk-mitigation processes during safety-critical changes in operations.
- Safety Culture Promotion: Foster a positive safety culture by delivering education and awareness programs to the workforce.
- Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Supplier Management: Audit and oversee the safety compliance of contracted suppliers.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate safety issues and updates to stakeholders at all levels, including participating in international, regional, and national meetings on safety matters.
- Legislation Compliance: Assess the impact of new legislation on operational safety and ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
- Training and Development: Provide safety training to Air Navigation Services (ANS) personnel to maintain the highest standards of operational safety.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
- Education: Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field, with operational experience in the aviation industry.
- Leadership Skills: Proven leadership experience within an Air Navigation Services (ANS) operational environment.
- Quality and Safety Management Expertise: Experience in the development and management of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Safety Management Systems (SMS) in an aviation setting.
- Air Traffic Control (ATC) or Air Traffic Engineering (ATE) Qualifications: Desirable but not essential.
- Project Management: Preferable experience in project management to handle safety and operational projects effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate safety messages clearly. Proficiency in Arabic is preferred but not mandatory.
- Air Traffic Services (ATS) Knowledge: A solid understanding of ATS operations and the ability to navigate complex operational environments.
- Operational Safety Expertise: In-depth understanding of aviation safety systems, including Safety Assurance, Risk Management, and Safety Promotion.
- Quality Management Knowledge: Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and their role in aviation safety.
- Environmental Management Understanding: Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems, including managing ISO 14001 certification processes.
