Principal Advisor – CNS Solutions

NATS is the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, managing over 2 million flights annually and offering a diverse range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries worldwide. Our mission is to advance aviation and ensure the safety of the skies. We are currently seeking a Principal Advisor – CNS Solutions, an experienced Senior Consultant role focused on Communications, Navigation, Surveillance, and ATM Systems. This position is remote and based in the MENA region, and it aims to provide high-quality professional support and technical services to NATS International.

Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, advising management on current trends and best practices in CNS and ATM systems.
  • Strategic Planning: Establish performance goals, conduct regular reviews, and implement professional development programs for team members.
  • Vision Development: Support the development of a strategic roadmap for the future of CNS/ATM systems, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and compliance with local and international aviation standards.
  • Capital Investment Planning: Collaborate with the Projects Department to prepare capital investment plans for CNS/ATM infrastructure improvements and expansions.
  • System Deployment: Provide support for the deployment of new ATM systems as required.
  • Performance Monitoring: Assist in implementing performance monitoring tools and metrics to evaluate system efficacy.
  • Maintenance Program Assessment: Review current maintenance programs and advise on the development of preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to minimize system downtime.
  • Inventory Management: Advise on the management of equipment and spares inventory, ensuring adequate availability at all times.
  • Lifecycle Management: Provide management support on the life cycle of equipment and systems, ensuring optimal operational efficiency.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Review all CNS/ATM operations against national and international aviation regulations, including ICAO, FAA, EUROCONTROL, and EASA, and recommend improvements.
  • Quality Management System Assessment: Assess the existing Quality Management System to identify, analyze, and mitigate operational safety risks.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Ideally, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Experience: Significant experience in CNS/ATM systems with demonstrable leadership or managerial experience.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of CNS/ATM systems, including radar, communication networks, navigation aids, surveillance technologies, and ATM platforms.
  • Strategic Skills: Proven abilities in strategy development, stakeholder management, and change management.
  • Commitment to Improvement: A strong dedication to achieving personal and team objectives, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Operational Safety Knowledge: Deep understanding of operational safety and the Safety Management System.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including budget development and resource allocation.
