Key Responsibilities
- Lock Installation & Repair: Install, repair, modify, and open a variety of locking mechanisms, including those on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults.
- Key Manufacturing: Manufacture keys and install lock cores, performing re-core and re-pin services for various lock systems.
- Combination Changes: Change lock combinations, including safes, GSA containers, electronic locks, and entry control systems.
- Lock Disassembly: Disassemble and repair locks such as padlocks, safe locks, and door locks, replacing worn tumblers, springs, and other parts as needed.
- Lock Picking: Utilize lock-picking techniques to open locks when necessary, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
- Vault and Safe Inspections: Conduct inspections on vault and safe locks to verify their certification for specific security levels.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain logs of keys and locks for buildings, containers, and equipment in accordance with contract guidelines.
- Carpentry Services: Perform preventative carpentry maintenance and handle repairs, installation, and replacement of building structures, including doors, floors, walls, ceilings, windows, and other components.
- Additional Duties: Carry out other duties as required, adhering to contractual, functional, and mission objectives.
Other Requirements
- Work Environment: Primarily indoors, but may require outdoor work for certain events or situations. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and chemicals may occur.
- Shift Work: Overtime and shift work may be necessary depending on contractual obligations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Employees must comply with Federal, State, and Local regulations, as well as company policies and written instructions.
- Wartime Support: Must be prepared to function in a wartime environment to support U.S. interests.
- 100% Overseas Assignment: This position involves working in various overseas locations.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- High School Diploma/GED with at least one (1) year of additional education or relevant experience.
- GSA Certified Safe and Vault Technician certification is required to work on GSA-approved containers, vaults, X-09/X-10 locks, cipher locks, mechanical combination locks, and safes.
- U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD Secret Clearance are mandatory.
Experience
- Previous experience working with GSA-approved locking mechanisms, including safes, vaults, and other security systems.
- Proficiency in working in high-security environments, ensuring compliance with safety and government regulations.
Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to locks and structural systems.
- Ability to give and receive instructions efficiently, working cooperatively in a team environment.
- Carpentry and structural maintenance skills, including the ability to fabricate and repair building components.
