The College of Engineering and Technology (CoET) at AUM offers high-quality, learner-centered programs, designed to prepare students for leadership and lifelong learning in their respective engineering and technology fields. AUM’s Computer Engineering Department offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate program and is currently seeking to recruit Laboratory Instructors for the Fall 2024 semester.
Responsibilities
As a Laboratory Instructor, you will play a crucial role in preparing students for real-world applications in the field of Computer Engineering. The responsibilities include:
- Lab Management: Prepare laboratory manuals and syllabi, set up and test experiments, and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Lab Instruction: Deliver laboratory sessions, including pre-laboratory presentations, supervise students, and assist in all aspects related to labs and courses.
- Assessment: Evaluate student performance through quizzes, reports, exams, and presentations. Keep attendance records and ensure academic compliance.
- Course Materials: Prepare laboratory course portfolios at the end of each semester and document equipment and experiments in logs and record books.
- Support Research: Assist faculty members within the Computer Engineering department in research and other academic tasks.
- Departmental Engagement: Participate actively in departmental meetings, proctor exams, and contribute to both professional development and the overall departmental activities.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all lab operations comply with the university’s safety regulations and manage orders for necessary equipment and specimens.
Qualifications
- Educational Requirements:
- A Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering or a related field from an internationally accredited university.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, and/or Java.
- Additional Skills:
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English, which is the primary language of instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse, fast-paced, and interdisciplinary environment.
- Prior experience in academia or industry is considered an asset.
- Participation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects or competitions is an added advantage.
