Responsibilities
As a Document Control Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the document control system for the project, covering team, client, vendor, and third-party documentation.
- Setting up and implementing efficient document control procedures, ensuring all project documentation is organized and accessible.
- Establishing and maintaining a filing system for project correspondence and records.
- Expediting the review and approval process for project-related documents, including designs, procedures, and certifications.
- Tracking and issuing project documents to all necessary parties, ensuring the latest versions are always in circulation.
- Removing outdated documents from distribution and overseeing the archiving of records.
- Acting as the central point of contact for document control on a large-scale study, working with other document controllers across different offices.
- Ensuring compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) standards and guidelines relevant to the business unit (BU).
- Adhering to health and safety protocols (OH&S), ensuring a safe working environment.
- Liaising with project teams to support their document management needs, including preparation, coordination, and control of large-scale project documentation.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you should have the following qualifications and experience:
- A degree or diploma from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in document control for large projects, preferably within the Oil & Gas or petrochemical industries.
- Prior experience in a GCC country (Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, UAE) is preferred.
- Familiarity with project management controls (PMC) and knowledge of engineering tools, data systems, and office software.
- Broad understanding of process engineering requirements throughout all project phases, from FEED to commissioning.
- Strong communication skills—able to explain complex processes clearly to a diverse team.
- Leadership skills, including mentoring less experienced team members and delivering training to local personnel.
- Knowledge of contract terms and commercial contract law related to the industries.
- Time management and multitasking abilities, with a proven track record of handling multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Pre-commissioning and commissioning experience is an advantage.
