Responsibilities
In your role as a Civil & Structural Engineer – Retainer, you will take on various technical tasks that are essential for project success. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Design Preparation: Assist in developing design briefs and reports that address the specific requirements of clients and stakeholders. This will involve creating detailed design documentation, specifications, and bar bending schedules to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Collaboration: Work closely with architects, engineers, and quantity surveyors to plan projects, schedule tasks, and develop integrated designs. Your ability to communicate effectively with team members will be vital for successful project outcomes.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all documents meet quality standards and deliver expected outputs on time for review by the Civil & Structural Engineer. This includes conducting civil and structural design in accordance with applicable international standards and codes of practice.
- Site Inspections: Carry out civil and structural site inspections and assessments as needed. Notify your supervisor of any obstacles that may impact timely delivery, ensuring smooth project execution.
- Research and Development: Conduct research to identify innovative technologies, techniques, and designs that can enhance project delivery. Assist in developing specifications, procedures, and QA/QC protocols as required.
- Technical Reviews: Participate in technical design reviews and assist in certifying civil and structural design documentation as an independent third party when necessary. Your expertise will help maintain high standards in all projects.
- Client Liaison: Engage with international clients to address their requirements and ensure their expectations are met. Your interpersonal skills will help foster strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate with various disciplines, including architectural and services design engineers, to coordinate works and submissions effectively. Your ability to work as part of a team will be key to achieving project goals.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering from an accredited university is required. An advanced degree in Structural Engineering is an added advantage. Registration as a professional engineer with a recognized institution will also be beneficial.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in civil and structural engineering design and implementation is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in international or local projects in conflict or disaster-prone areas.
- Language Skills: Full working knowledge of English is mandatory. Fluency in French is a significant advantage and will enhance your application.
