As a Database Administrator, you will perform operational DBA duties, including installation, upgrades, patching, backup/recovery, monitoring procedures, capacity planning, and performance tuning. Your expertise will be crucial in designing and architecting SQL Server and Oracle platforms to meet business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational DBA Duties: Manage database installations, upgrades, patching, and environment cloning. Implement backup/recovery procedures and monitoring systems.
- Database Design and Architecture: Design, architect, and build SQL Server and Oracle platforms based on business requirements. Deploy test and production systems effectively.
- Application Support: Interface with application development teams to resolve issues related to application and database systems.
- Project Management: Oversee multiple applications or service areas and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely responses and quality delivery.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive optimization and automation of existing and new database services to improve efficiency and performance.
- Data Security: Set up and maintain Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and other encryption methods to secure data.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in engineering and supporting enterprise databases.
- Significant knowledge of SQL Server (on-premises and Azure SQL services) and Oracle database technology (Windows and Linux platforms).
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of Oracle backup and recovery (RMAN/Data Pump).
- Proficient in High Availability technologies, including SQL Failover Clusters and Availability Groups.
- Hands-on experience with large, high-volume SQL and Oracle databases in complex enterprise environments.
- Experience with Windows Clustering, SaaS or web development, and hands-on DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with SQL Server database installation and configuration.
