Job Summary
As an Instructor in Mathematics and Physics, you will report directly to the Head of Department. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing course materials, teaching classes, assessing student performance, and coordinating the overall teaching and learning process.
Responsibilities
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Curriculum Development: Prepare and develop detailed descriptions and summaries of course units included in the curriculum.
- Assessment Creation: Design assessments to evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning.
- Resource Management: Identify and prepare learning materials and resources for the library, ensuring they are accessible for student reference.
- IT Resource Determination: Assess and recommend necessary IT resources to support academic plans and improve teaching methods.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student data, including grades and attendance, to monitor academic progress.
- Project Supervision: Oversee student projects, providing guidance and support to foster academic achievement.
- Instructor Substitution: Step in for other instructors in your field or discipline during their absence, ensuring continuity in education.
- Community Engagement: Actively contribute to community service initiatives, promoting the university’s mission.
- Graduation Participation: Take part in graduation ceremonies and related activities to celebrate student achievements.
- Syllabus Design and Evaluation: Participate in the design, coordination, evaluation, and refinement of the unit syllabus, ensuring alignment with accreditation requirements.
- Academic Advising: Serve as an academic advisor, providing guidance and regular follow-ups on student progress across multiple units.
- Teaching Material Development: Contribute to the selection and creation of teaching materials that align with unit objectives.
- Committee Participation: Serve on university, department, and program committees as required, contributing to institutional governance.
- Policy Compliance: Adhere to all university policies and procedures, maintaining professional standards.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department to support the department’s goals.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Physics, Applied Physics, or a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in university teaching, research, or professional industry service.
