Electrician Journeyman

Vectrus is seeking an experienced Electrician Journeyman to join our team in support of the LOGCAP program in Kuwait. As an Electrician Journeyman, you will work closely with the Master Electrician to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components for power distribution. You will ensure continuous electrical support for telecommunications equipment and the facility’s distribution system. This role involves handling electrical installations in commercial and industrial settings and adhering to strict safety and compliance standards such as the National Electrical Code (NEC) and MIL Standards. Responsibilities

As an Electrician Journeyman, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Electrical System Installation and Maintenance: Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and maintain electrical systems and power distribution equipment in both commercial and industrial settings.
• Ensure Continuous Power Supply: Perform necessary operations and maintenance tasks to ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical telecommunications and facility equipment.
• Comply with NEC Standards: Follow NEC 2008 standards for repairs and upgrades on existing electrical systems, and NEC 2011 standards for new construction and system installations.
• Support Electrical Safety Protocols: Ensure all tasks comply with contract specifications, safety regulations, and MIL Standards to maintain a safe working environment.
• Problem-Solving: Address and troubleshoot complex electrical problems to ensure systems remain operational and perform efficiently.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of electrical work, including system upgrades and repairs, and provide regular reports on the condition of equipment.

You may also be assigned additional duties as required to support the team and project objectives.

Qualifications

To be considered for the Electrician Journeyman position, you must meet the following qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education.
• Licensing: Must possess a Journeyman Electrician license and be able to obtain a host country driver’s license.
• CAC Eligibility: Must be CAC-eligible and/or able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
• Work Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of electrical wiring experience, particularly in planning, laying out, and installing electrical distribution systems in accordance with the NEC, under the supervision of a qualified electrician.
• Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of Electrical Codes and the ability to apply them to different types of installations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and job sites efficiently.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse team.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • A commitment to workplace safety and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Working Conditions

• Physical Demands: Light to moderate physical labor, including lifting up to 20 pounds, standing for long periods, and occasional heavy lifting.
• Environmental Conditions: Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors in harsh conditions such as extreme heat (up to 130°F in summer) and cold (around 30°F in winter). Some work environments may expose workers to industrial hazards, including dust, chemicals, or biological agents.
• Safety Requirements: Compliance with all safety and fire regulations is mandatory. PPE will be provided for specific tasks, including protective gear for head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protection.
