Responsibilities

  • Champion a strong project safety culture and actively promote safe behaviors.
  • Provide technical expertise in process safety and loss prevention during the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) and FEED (Front End Engineering Design) phases.
  • Oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, and industry standards.
  • Review, approve, and ensure the quality and accuracy of EPC and FEED contractor’s safety-related deliverables, including risk studies, firefighting equipment designs, and safety signage.
  • Participate in safety and risk assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and PHASER reviews.
  • Offer guidance on technical specifications, fire & safety codes, and standards such as NFPA, API, and international codes.
  • Provide assistance during the construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup phases to ensure safety procedures are followed.
  • Contribute to the review and validation of emergency response plans.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations and participate in the pre-qualification of contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure proper tracking and closeout of all loss prevention actions identified in safety reviews and studies.
  • Participate in performance evaluations and provide ongoing technical coordination with other discipline engineers.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BEng) in a relevant Engineering discipline is required.
  • Extensive experience in the Oil & Gas industry, specifically in refinery or petrochemical environments.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in FEED and EPC phases of major engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with fire & safety codes and standards such as NFPA, API, and international codes of practice.
  • Strong background in risk management systems, loss prevention, and process safety.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
