Confidential is seeking a dedicated Barista to join our team. The successful candidate will provide exceptional customer service, expertly prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks and other beverages, and maintain a clean and organized workspace. This role is vital in creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring a positive experience for all customers.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their orders in a friendly, professional manner.
- Provide product information and recommendations to enhance the customer experience.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback tactfully, escalating issues when necessary.
Beverage Preparation
- Prepare and serve coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and techniques (e.g., espresso, caffe latte, cappuccino).
- Accurately take orders, paying attention to details such as coffee blend preferences and dairy/sugar ratios.
- Prepare and serve a variety of other beverages, including teas, smoothies, and specialty drinks.
Sales and Transactions
- Sell and serve products courteously, safely handling hot drinks.
- Process customer transactions accurately using POS systems or cash registers.
- Accept cash, credit card, or mobile payments, providing correct change to customers.
- Maintain an organized cash drawer and reconcile transactions at the end of each shift.
Inventory and Stock Management
- Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee supplies and stocking coffee brewing equipment, snacks, and pastries.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate inventory needs and shortages to the café manager.
Cleanliness and Safety
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the coffee bar, equipment, and customer seating areas.
- Adhere to all food safety standards and cleanliness guidelines.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and redesigning processes, implementing changes, and enhancing the coffee bar’s appearance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices through educational opportunities and publications.
Additional Duties
- Wrap, label, or date food items for sale.
- Prepare, reheat, and serve meals and snacks as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the direct manager.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Previous experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role is preferred.
- Skills: Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling.
